I have loved creating for as long as I can remember. I have taken advantage of every opportunity to learn more about the arts since an early age. After receiving my Bachelor of Fine Art from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, I became a full time Art Teacher at the Elementary level. I love the challenges that each day brings, and the delights on my students' faces as they find that magic that only making Art can give us.
I try to paint every day. It is my meditation that grounds and motivates me. The practice of daily painting also helps me understand who I am as an artist. I start seeing the world around me, and planning how I can capture it in a painting. I have spent a lot of time using oils, yet I am working in acrylics and mixed media currently. Color, composition, and mark making are all very much on my mind as I explore and nurture my emerging style.
I have been teaching art to a variety of Elementary and Middle School students for over 20 years. This experience has made me realize the importance of using our creative muscles and the power art can have in our lives.
